O objetivo da pesquisa é analisar os critérios de noticiabilidade adotados pelas publicações dirigidas ao público adolescente, relacionando-os aos destaques de capa envolvendo ídolos do referido público-alvo. Como objeto, será estudada a cobertura jornalística dada pelas revistas a quatro fenômenos da indústria cultural: os atores da saga Crepúsculo, os atores dos seriados do canal Disney Channel, o cantor Justin Bieber e os atores da novela brasileira Rebelde. O trabalho inicia com um histórico do jornalismo de revista, de sua origem até o jornalismo voltado para as leitoras adolescentes, passando pela história das revistas femininas e de variedade. Em seguida, é apresentada a fundamentação teórica os conceitos oriundos da Teoria da Notícia (Traquina) em confronto com as noções de consumo (Canclini) e comportamento (Featherstone). Por último, a análise do corpus, que foi definido por um recorte temático dentro do período mencionado, dividida em dois grandes grupos de reportagens: aquelas em que o ídolo é a notícia, e aquelas em que ele serve de guia para a leitora.
